Leather shoes, leather sandals, rubber and plastic slippers contain toxic and harmful substances, which are harmful to human health.

Recently, the Guangdong Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau has conducted quality supervision and inspection of 120 batches of footwear (leather shoes, leather sandals, rubber and plastic slippers) in the production area of 11 regions such as Guangzhou and Jiangmen, and found that some footwear formaldehyde and banned azo dyes exceeded the standard.

The qualified rate of this sampling batch is 74.2%.

There are 5 batches of formaldehyde products exceeding the standard.

Among them, the highest detection rate exceeded 3.3 times the national standard.

Expert analysis, the main reason for the failure is due to the role of formaldehyde preservative.

During the leather production process, in order to prevent and protect raw leather raw materials, add certain concentration of Formaldehyde Solution into the raw leather. If the technology is not strictly controlled, this may become the main source of formaldehyde exceeding the standard of the finished fur leather.

In addition, other raw materials may be brought into the whole leather making process, such as dyeing agents for leather dyeing and adhesives used in the production process. Besides, the quality management consciousness of enterprise managers is not strong, and they are not completely organized according to product standards, which may be the reason for the failure of leather products.

Besides, 5 batches of products can decompose harmful aromatic amine dyes (banned azo dyes).

According to the requirements of GB 20400-2006, the products with non direct contact with the skin can decompose harmful aromatic amine dyes to a limit value of less than 30mg/kg. According to the test, some unqualified leather shoes can decompose harmful aromatic amine dyes up to 285mg/kg, exceeding the limit value of 9.5 times.

It is understood that banned azo dyed leather shoes and human skin after long term contact (though not directly), will be mixed with the release of components in the metabolic process and produce a reduction reaction to form carcinogenic aromatic amine compounds, this compound will be absorbed by the body, through a series of activation of human cells DNA structure and function changes, become the cause of human disease.

The main reason for the disqualification is the use of decomposable aromatic amine dyes (banned azo dyes).
