The Zimbabwe Herald reported on April 6 that the Zimbabwe Cotton Company said that due to better rainfall this year, the cotton output is expected to more than double to 100000 tons, far higher than the 48000 tons in the previous quarter, which will be the highest output in two years. A few years ago, continuous drought in some cotton growing areas affected the cotton output of more than 350000 farmers.

Steward Mubonderi, chairman of the Cotton Production and Marketing Association, said that since some cotton planting was invested by private enterprises and was not included in the statistics at present, the minimum output this year is expected to be 100000 tons.
